Beginning in Copenhagen

Mathias Lauridsen was born in Denmark in 1984 and grew up in Copenhagen. Discovered in 2003, he quickly entered international fashion. Lex’s Danish fashion reference identifies Marc by Marc Jacobs in New York as an early breakthrough. Public documentation is stronger for these first professional steps than for detailed childhood anecdotes.[1][2]

The Spring 2004 collections

He walked Marc by Marc Jacobs in New York and Miu Miu in Paris for the Spring 2004 collections. Because collection seasons precede their retail calendar, this is consistent with a 2003 international debut. Moving between fashion capitals required adapting to different clothes, casting environments and runway expectations early in his professional life.[1][2]

A Richard Avedon collaboration

Richard Avedon photographed him for Hermès’s Fall 2004 campaign, placing Lauridsen in the photographer’s late body of work. Later collaborators included Steven Meisel, David Sims, Craig McDean and Peter Lindbergh. These projects offer different interpretations of the same subject, shaped by lighting and composition as well as the model’s performance.[1][3]

Expanding across fashion houses

Campaigns for Jil Sander, Christian Dior, Calvin Klein and Hugo Boss illustrate a range from restrained tailoring to more casual imagery. His portfolio combines a recognizable appearance with adaptation to different clients. Editorials and repeated commercial work gradually established a career beyond the temporary attention attached to a new face.[3]

Gucci fragrance imagery

He is also associated with Gucci Pour Homme II, launched in 2007. The fragrance imagery places him with the bottle and relies on a relaxed, composed presence. Unlike a runway, fragrance advertising communicates atmosphere rather than garment movement. Such work can carry a model’s image to consumers who do not follow fashion shows.[4]

A portfolio over time

Documented later work includes Gucci and Giorgio Armani campaigns in 2015, Berluti’s Holiday 2023 advertising and Louis Vuitton’s Father’s Day 2024 project photographed by Tyler Mitchell. These dated credits provide a more concrete account of longevity than repeating an old ranking. They show continuing work across changing clients, photographers and settings.[3]

Runway work documented in 2026

In June 2026 he walked the Paul Smith and Soshiotsuki Spring/Summer 2027 menswear shows. The collection year refers to the season, not a future event being claimed as completed. More than two decades after his debut, these credits extend a career spanning international campaigns, major photographers and continuing runway appearances.[3]
