Life before fashion

Baptiste Giabiconi was born in Marignane in 1989 and spent childhood years in Corsica and Marseille. He studied hospitality before moving into aeronautical work. Advice received at a gym around 2007 encouraged him to prepare a modeling portfolio. His entry into fashion therefore followed vocational training and employment outside the industry.[1]

A defining meeting in 2008

After pursuing castings in Paris, he met Karl Lagerfeld in 2008. Work for the designer’s own label and Chanel followed, changing the scale of his career. In a 2020 television interview he described the meeting as life-changing. The sustained collaboration placed him close to an environment where photography, clothing and theatrical presentation intersected.[2][3]

Modeling beyond a single house

His portfolio extended from Chanel and Fendi to Armani and Just Cavalli, with photographers including Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. In shows and campaigns, expression, posture and styling helped create distinct characters. The description of him as a designer’s muse captures an important relationship, but individual client and production credits reveal a broader working career.[2]

Records and television

Music began publicly with the 2010 single Showtime, followed by Danse avec les stars in 2011 and the album Oxygen in 2012. Its largely English-language electronic pop contrasted with the French-language, more acoustic direction of Un homme libre in 2014. These projects required a distinct craft even when fashion visibility helped introduce him to an audience.[1][4]

Recording a shared history

In 2020, the year after Lagerfeld’s death, he published Karl et moi, recounting their long association from his own perspective. Television interviews discussed what he had learned and his wish to preserve the designer’s memory. As a memoir it records personal experience rather than every participant’s viewpoint, adding authorship to his public work.[3][5]

Family and further ambitions

He became a father in 2023. Later interviews emphasized family and Corsican roots, while his 2025 conversation with Numéro Netherlands identified cinema as a future professional goal. Such an ambition is distinct from a released film credit. It documents a direction he wished to explore alongside an established fashion and music background.[2][6][7]

Fashion work in 2026

Models.com records Dolce & Gabbana menswear in January 2026, the amfAR Cannes gala show in May and L’Officiel Italia cover and editorial work in June. These credits extend the public record beyond his early breakthrough or albums. His trajectory spans aeronautical work, fashion, recordings, television, memoir and continuing shoots, without relying on speculation about wealth or inheritance.[8]
