Early life
Young Kwang Kim was born in 1987 and grew up in Incheon. Interested in sport and comics, he considered different futures before visiting a commercial shoot while in high school. His recollections provide a better starting point than projecting his later polished image backward onto childhood. Both modeling and acting developed through subsequent experience.[1][2][5][7]

Entering the profession
He began modeling around 2006, progressing from domestic work to European auditions. A 2008 interview with fellow model Yoon Jin Wook describes repeated rejection, waiting, and life in unfamiliar cities. His international entry involved earning opportunities through auditions rather than arriving as an established invited star.[2][3]

The breakthrough
He walked Dior Homme’s spring/summer 2009 show in Paris in June 2008. Contemporary reports described him as the first Asian male model on that house’s runway. The collection season and actual show date should be distinguished. The booking was a significant milestone during an early phase of Korean male models’ international expansion.[3][4]

Defining work
Television and film broadened his expressive work, from White Christmas to the 2018 romantic film On Your Wedding Day. Presenting clothing on a runway differs from sustaining a character’s changes across a film. His modeling background explains familiarity with cameras, while acting achievements require assessment within each work.[1][5]
Expanding the practice
Somebody, Call It Love, and Evilive placed him in different genres and roles. Romantic warmth and threatening thriller characters ask for different audience responses. This range encourages consideration of role choices beyond an appearance-centered model-turned-actor label, without reducing every performance to the image of one successful work.[1][6]

Latest documented work
He played Moon Baek in Netflix’s 2025 series Trigger and discussed preparing the role in subsequent interviews. His 2025 filmography also includes Walking on Thin Ice and The First Ride. This account centers documented 2025 work rather than treating listings for later projects as proof of release.[1][6]

A place in fashion history
His place in fashion history connects Korean male models’ European expansion with movement into screen acting. Overseas auditions, a landmark runway appearance, and leading film and television roles represent distinct challenges. Modeling deserves recognition as an achievement in its own right, while the later acting career should not be reduced to earlier fashion fame.[3][4][5][6]
