Early life
Born in 1988 as Lee Hyuk Soo, Soo Hyuk Lee recalled wanting to appear in films from childhood. Acting was therefore not merely an accidental ambition acquired after modeling. Interest in clothing and performance coexisted, with fashion becoming his first route to recognition. His later career is more complex than abandoning one profession for another.[1][2]

Entering the profession
He debuted as a runway model in 2006. His distinctive appearance became associated with late-2000s Korean menswear imagery involving cropped hair, smoky makeup, and dark clothing. That identity emerged from styling and photographic collaboration as well as physical features, illustrating how a model can come to represent an era’s mood.[3][4]

The breakthrough
He entered a sustained acting career with The Boy from Ipanema in 2010, followed by television including White Christmas and Deep Rooted Tree. He later described moving from discomfort with the model label to accepting it as part of himself. Screen characterization demanded skills beyond the impact of a single photograph.[1][2][4]

Defining work
Hosting Style Log translated modeling experience into television discussion of taste and fashion culture. He described fashion as familiar common ground. Meanwhile, dramas including High School King of Savvy and The Scholar Who Walks the Night offered different characters. Fashion hosting and acting remained distinct parts of his expanding public work.[1][2]

Expanding the practice
Later work includes Tomorrow and Doom at Your Service, followed in 2025 by a detective in S Line and a shooting athlete in Blue. A distinctive appearance can provide a starting point across genres, but each character still requires motivation and relationships. His filmography records new meanings being placed around an established visual presence.[1][5]

Latest documented work
In January 2026 he discussed playing the kidnapper Tae Su in Sister, considering how movement, appearance, and speech generated tension within a confined setting. He also reported filming Grand Galaxy Hotel. Production status is distinguished here from release, while the interview documents his contemporary approach to preparing a role.[5]

A place in fashion history
His trajectory shows a distinctive fashion identity moving through popular culture. Photography, fashion hosting, and dramatic acting connect without being identical crafts. His warning that modeling does not automatically guarantee an acting career also clarifies his own history: visual recognition and preparation for a new profession must be considered together.[2][3][5]
