Learning modeling in Erechim

Alessandra Ambrosio was born in Erechim, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in 1981. She began modeling classes at twelve and entered the profession through regional selection and photographic work. Childhood interest did not instantly produce international success: posture, walking and on-camera experience had to be learned. Brazilian publications and international agencies widened her opportunities. Her beginnings form an individual path within the growing international prominence of Brazilian models in the 2000s.[1][2]

Growing into an international advertising model

Ambrosio developed internationally through editorials, advertising and runways. Work with Guess and other brands transformed a regional newcomer into a recognizable consumer image. Vogue, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar required editorial roles different from commercial advertising. Her professional scope was therefore wider than one appearance. Although an energetic image recurred, adapting expression and movement to each client’s clothes and setting made that continuity possible.[2][3]

A central figure in televised fashion

Longstanding work with Victoria’s Secret made Ambrosio a central figure in the televised fashion spectacles of the 2000s. Music, large costumes and expression were produced together. Communicating personality to cameras and spectators was especially important. Fantasy Bra appearances in 2012 and 2014 were milestones in that relationship. Repeated seasons required both continuity as a familiar brand figure and the ability to make different costumes into fresh scenes.[2][3]

Changing the balance after 2017

Ambrosio concluded regular Angel work after the 2017 show, a change distinct from retiring from modeling as a whole. Red-carpet appearances, editorials and other advertising continued, alongside her own clothing projects. A 2021 Mexican Vogue interview discussed life and work after forty. Treating the end of one long brand relationship as the end of all professional activity would obscure those choices. Accumulated experience became material for articulating personal style and business interests.[3][4]

Proposing clothing under her own name

Ambrosio began a design collaboration with Ale by Alessandra in 2014. Bohemian tops, skirts, accessories and beachwear translated familiar personal style into products. The role involved proposing a mood for customers rather than only wearing another designer’s clothes. Vogue’s 2015 Rio de Janeiro diary connected clothing and travel interests in this phase. Beachwear subsequently became a central business area, with Brazilian coastal experience serving as a design reference.[5][6]

Creating GAL Floripa together

In 2019 Ambrosio founded GAL Floripa with her sister Aline and longtime friend Gisele Cória. Its name combines the founders’ names with Florianópolis, a source of inspiration. The official account emphasizes relationships between women and shared beach experiences. The business involved shaping products rather than simply modeling them. Launch interviews connected years of lingerie work with knowledge of fit and movement, allowing her role as a co-founder to be distinguished from celebrity recognition alone.[7][8]

Runway and business continue to intersect

Ambrosio returned to the resumed Victoria’s Secret show in 2024. Read alongside the earlier farewell, the appearance shows a collaboration capable of resuming through new choices rather than a career closed by one departure. Her own brand and other fashion work also continued. Beach and leisure imagery connects runway, advertising and product development, although each activity’s outcomes and future contracts require separate evidence. Official brand information and the 2024 appearance provide later documentation here.[7][9]
