Alexandre Mattiussi: AMI and Everyday Dressing
AMI and Everyday Dressing

When a heart becomes fabric
Alexandre Mattiussi AMI history begins with the construction surrounding the familiar heart. A merino cardigan uses intarsia, a technique that knits contrasting yarn into a pattern, rather than attaching an image to the surface. Horn buttons and exposed seams interrupt its softness. The question is how to give repeatedly worn clothes an identifiable expression. Presenting the same garment on different bodies makes size and ease part of that expression.
Learning in menswear studios
Alexandre Mattiussi AMI history includes an education at Duperré in Paris. Born in 1980 and raised in Normandy, he worked on Dior’s 30 Montaigne menswear, spent over five years at Givenchy, then joined Marc Jacobs Men. He presented AMI in 2011 and won the ANDAM Grand Prix in 2013. The name combines letters from his name and means friend in French. His tailoring carries workshop experience into outfits whose jacket and trousers can work separately.
Two distances of recognition
Alexandre Mattiussi AMI history becomes tangible in the cardigan’s contrast between white ground and black motif. The intarsia marks the chest, while buttons preserve a familiar vertical opening. Worn closed over a shirt it frames the torso; opened over a T-shirt its edges move. A different cotton-and-wool cardigan has a boxy fit and tonal chest embroidery. Strong contrast and near-invisible stitching make the same emblem legible at different distances. Recognition depends on its relationship with the background, not merely its presence.
Buttons also let the wearer adjust the exposed area of the layer underneath, changing the central line without changing the garment.
Sportswear joins the wardrobe
Alexandre Mattiussi AMI history expanded through the 2022 PUMA collaboration. Hoodies and sneakers joined neutral and brighter colors, with Romeo Beckham and Mia Regan appearing in the campaign. Slipstream Mid and suede-based shoes already possessed an athletic vocabulary. Coordination of volume and color made them part of a complete outfit rather than requiring every shape to be invented anew. A second collaboration that year moved toward winter outdoor clothing, extending comfort into protective layers and greater volume.
A square and the people behind the clothes
Alexandre Mattiussi AMI history acquired a particularly local stage when the Spring 2026 show took place on Place des Victoires in June 2025. Employees and collaborators joined the finale beside the headquarters. Everyday routes became a presentation space. Nicolas Santi-Weil, CEO since 2013, supplies another part of the story. Their January 2026 interview addressed creative and managerial roles and the need to strengthen internal systems after expansion. Supplying daily clothes consistently requires coordination of production and distribution as well as ideas.
From emblem to panel
Alexandre Mattiussi AMI history continued in the Spring 2027 collection presented in June 2026. Red and navy panels formed hearts; argyle knit patterns reconfigured the same symbol. Compared with the chest emblem, these larger arrangements make seams and divisions of color carry the image across the body. A shirt-like skirt tied its sleeve forms at the waist. Moving an upper-body detail into a skirt turns an apparently spontaneous knot into structure. Familiar tailoring and a casual gesture coexist, changing balance through the point where fabric is secured.
The value of a small adjustment
Alexandre Mattiussi AMI history cannot be reduced to one branded product. Felted wool, a boxy torso, sneaker volume and a knot at the waist solve different questions of density, space and movement. As checked in October 2026, the official house biography identifies him as founder and creative director. ANDAM also named him a mentor for its 2026 winners, bringing creative and business experience to younger labels. His trajectory runs from established studios to independent leadership and mentorship. Comparing what changes with what remains familiar reveals the consistency behind seemingly straightforward clothes.
