Timothée Chalamet came to wider attention with Call Me by Your Name in 2017, after television appearances and early film work including Interstellar. Lady Bird, Beautiful Boy and Little Women placed him in different kinds of coming-of-age stories. Dune and Wonka then expanded his work into large-scale fantasy and musical storytelling. His career offers a useful context for reading the public images created around each release.
Fashion has been a visible part of that process. His relationship with designer Haider Ackermann began around the 2017 Berlin Film Festival, and the pair later collaborated on a charity hoodie. He also co-chaired the 2021 Met Gala.
