Career & style
Lily Collins gained wider film recognition in The Blind Side in 2009 and went on to lead Mirror Mirror and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Her roles in Rules Don’t Apply and To the Bone show another side of this early career. Emily in Paris, which began in 2020, placed her within a television series where clothes are a conspicuous part of the visual storytelling.
That series provides a clear editorial distinction: Emily Cooper’s wardrobe is constructed for a fictional character, not a complete record of the actor’s own taste. Collins also wrote for fashion publications as a teenager, including Elle Girl. Reading her through both performance and fashion media opens a more useful question than simply copying outfits: how do costumes, magazine imagery and promotional appearances give audiences different ways of recognizing a public figure?
