Gigi Hadid was born in Los Angeles in 1995 and grew up in California. Her mother Yolanda had modeled, and she appeared in Guess children’s advertising. Childhood was not a continuous professional modeling career, however. Competitive riding and volleyball occupied her school years, including captaining Malibu High’s volleyball team. Fashion connections coexisted with sports routines that she later linked to discipline.

Gigi Hadid’s Tommy Hilfiger collaboration expanded her role from presenting clothes to participating in product creation. A United Nations fashion publication records industry recognition of that 2016 design debut. She also cohosted the American Music Awards that year. Design collaboration and hosting required different skills, creating overlapping professional roles rather than one narrowly defined occupation.
