Selena Gomez

Career & style

Selena Gomez worked as a child actor before becoming widely known in Wizards of Waverly Place. Her music career includes recordings with Selena Gomez & the Scene and solo albums such as Stars Dance and Revival. Acting, recording and producing give her public appearances several different professional settings.

Her archive can be read by comparing those settings instead of treating every photograph as an expression of the same style. A film festival portrait, a promotional event and a concert each place different demands on an outfit. Notice the neckline, the balance between decoration and plain fabric, and how the clothes are framed by the camera. The photographs here offer entry points into that comparison, with their event context retained in the captions.
