Bella Hadid

Defining work

Bella Hadid was born in 1996 and grew up in California. Her mother Yolanda had modeled and her sister Gigi entered the same profession. Horses were central to childhood: she recalled school followed by the stables and family dinner. Fashion access was present, but it did not encompass all her interests. Riding returned in later accounts of balancing work and daily life.

Bella Hadid closed Coperni’s spring/summer 2023 show in Paris in 2022 as sprayed material became a dress on her body. Widely circulated video made the construction itself a spectacle. She served as its live performer, while designers, material technology and technicians all contributed. The moment is therefore a collaboration rather than an individual creation.
